Finally.....I got that quick page done!!

NO....I did not conquer GIMP...I gave up and downloaded a trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS2.

I want to thank Rick Evans of Scrapadilly for all his assistance in helping me get started working in the PSCS2. If it hadn't been for him...I would have never figured out how to begin the layout for the quick page!! Thank you so much Rick!!

I found a great tutorial on making quick pages on Misty Cato's site. It made completing the quick page pretty simple. Thanks Misty!!

As soon as I finish some cleaning I desparately need to get to...I will come back and upload a pic of the quick page....My very first ever!!

Maybe I shouldn't admit this.....but

for two days now, I have been trying to figure out how to make a digital quick page. You know one of the pages where you can just plop a photo in when you find the right one.

Well, I must be quick page challenged because I can't seem to get it right. I am using a free program called GIMP for my scrapbooking endeavors. I have been told it is real similiar to PSE and I have successfully used instructions to do other things such as paper tears....but this quick page is about to cause me to pull out my hair!!

However, I know I will eventually figure it out..but in the mean time...if you can help me...by all means....all help is definitely appreciated!!

Oh Boy...Have I been MIA!!!!

Sorry, I have been gone for so long. Too many things getting in the way. Hopefully things are straightened out now and I will be posting much more regularly.

I had a great Christmas...all things considered. I sure do miss my son and his family who moved to Baumholder, Germany in September. But, I did get to talk to them on Christmas Day and that was a huge help!

Well, I spent the part of Christmas Day at my sister's house...ate lunch with her and then came home and took a long nap! Man was I wiped out.

Isn't it Amazing How THINGS Can Take Over....

Your life?

I haven't been blogging very much lately. As a matter of fact, I have neglected my blog! I am going to try and do a better job from now on!

I seem to have taken on much more than I should have in the past month. OK....school started back and I teach, so that was something that I couldn't control. I am in grad school and I only take 6 hours per semester...so that is not too bad.

My problems seem to come in with me not being able to say NO...when asked to do something & with challenges and swaps on all these boards that I frequent regularly. Then there are some other issues that have prevented me from being on as much as I like...such as some computer problems and the like.

I can't say I have learned to say no yet! But, I have learned to keep my mouth shut and my hand down when asked for volunteers!!

I have "slapped" my hand a couple times lately about swaps that I would see and make myself close out the computer and walk away before I could sign up for them! So I guess things will get better!!

Newly Converted Scrapbooker

This layout was done tonight by my 10 year old granddaughter, Airrin! She took to scrapbooking like a duck to water! I didn't have to explain much before she took off and was going without any assistance!

Summer Break is Over!!!

At least for me it is! I will start back to school tomorrow! Back to writing lesson plans and teaching all those 3rd graders entrusted to my care during the school day!

I really am quite excited that it is time to go back....I have had about all the free time I can handle!

In two weeks, I will even start my classes that I am taking to complete my graduate degree!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer! I know I have!!

OK...I guess I was bored this morning or someone left me to my own devices for waaayyy too long! I had to go and change something...it just happened my blog caught it!

10 Day - 10K - Club Scrap Attack Challenge

The challenge today required that we find a specific card and scraplift it. I chose to scraplift the color pink & the two heart elements (even though, I didn't use hearts).

Well, I made it......I did a card every single day!! This challenge has really pushed me to think about cards!! Thank you Caardvarks!!!

10 Day - 10K - Nine Time Challenge

The challenge today was to make a card with a clock on the front. Easy enough, I figure....but I decide I needed to print off some digital elements that I had on hand in order to make this card have an old fashioned feel. Do you get an old fashioned feel when you look at the card?

I don't seem to have the terms of use for the digital elements..all I can find is that the designs are by Doormouse Designs. I'm not even sure where I got this kit.....but I really do like it!!

10 Day - 10K - 8 is Enough

So, today the challenge is to use 2-patterned papers, 2- circles, 2- ribbons, & 2 stamps.

OK...that was not too difficult...except I wasn't extremely pleased with the outcome of mine. If I have time later today, I am going to try to do another one. Maybe I will like it better.

Today has been a really BUSY day for me!!

I have been really busy today!! As you can see, this is the third time I have made an entry on my blog. Strange, I know!!

First I talked about the Dream Team contest...then about the Caardvarks Card challenge....Now, well.................

I decided to go back blonde!! I was tired of the dark hair.

10 Day - 10K - Lucky # 7

The Caardvark's challenge today was to make a Good Luck card....Well, what is supposed to be more lucky than the date that just happened on Saturday...07/07/07.

That is what the 3 #7 playing cards on my card represents.

I have really been enjoying this challenge as I really enjoy making cards. I am so glad that I was lead to this site.

ScrapStreet Dream Team Contest

OK...My partner & I have made it to round 6---the final round. Due to the rules...I must go this round alone...my partner does not do a layout for this final round.You can see my layout for round 5 here.

I must say......I am really nervous about this round....this is what I must do for the final challenge.

Go on a hunt! Find something beautiful that I may have overlooked before. It may be something ordinary, or old, or silly, a thing, a body part, a moment--I need to open my eyes and really look around. What beauty do I see? Then I must scrap a layout!!

This is going to cause me to reach waaaayyyy outside my comfort zone. I like things all nice & tidy.....nothing different. How am I ever going to accomplish this challenge? I will do it because I cannot let my partner down!!!!

10 Day - 10K - Six Shooter!!

Well, today we were to make a 6 X 6 card.....not too hard. I used DMD cs & my Cuttlebug ....along with my sewing machine (something I don't use often enough) to do this card.

I was just feeling a little playful today, I guess!!

10 Day - 10K - 5 Star!!

It was really a good thing I didn't just assume this challenge was for 5 stars on the card....because I would have needed to make yet another card. Today we were to use 5 embellies on our card.

OK....It's day 4 of this challenge and so far I've managed to complete them all. Can I keep up?? Who knows!! We'll just have to wait & see!!

So, today we are supposed to make a tri-fold card. Doesn't sound too hard, does it? Unless of course, you don't have any inkling of an idea how to do it!! This is my very first attempt at making a tri-fold card.

Dream Team Contest

I am involved in a Dream Team contest on my of my favorite scrapbooking sites. We had to team up with a partner. There are a total of 6 challenges and we must complete 4 of them together (meaning both of us must do a layout). Then we must each complete one challenge "alone".

We have completed 2 of the challenges and after discussing it with my partner, it was determined she would go this challenge "alone". So, I am cheering for her from the sidelines.

I am Really Stepping Out of the Box!!

Don't tell me you can't teach an old dog new tricks!! I just won't believe a word of it! Just take a look at the two scrapbook pages I finished today!

One is using the 6 X 12 page and the other is round...you heard me...ROUND. Now if that isn't out of the box..what is?

The 6 X 12 was done due to a challenge from a friend..she said if I did the 6 X 12...she would do a digital scrapbook page....You know who you are...so I guess you'd better get busy!! :)

I Need Some Organizational Help!!

OK...so I am a member of SEVERAL scrapbooking boards. All of which I really adore and wouldn't dream of leaving any one of them. I give them all equal time...many times a day!

Here is my problem! I get involved in challenges and swaps that I really want to be involved in. Now don't get me wrong....I don't get involved with every swap & challenge on every board that I frequent. I do pick & choose! The problem is...I have this fear of forgetting something or someone due to the many I might have going on a one time.

I really enjoy the swaps & the challenges and I don't want to give them up! Someone has to have an idea of how I can solve my problem!

Here's a challenge for you: Leave me a comment with a way to get more organized with my challenges & swaps. On June 20...I will draw a name from all the comments and RAK that person!!

New DT at Moments to Remember!!

No...I didn't make the team..but there are some really talented ladies that did!! I can't wait until they get started with the challenges and their own projects! It is going to be soooo much fun!! I've Been Tagged - 7 Things......

So here are 7 random facts/habits about me:

1. I am currently in grad school. I know at my age you would think I would be finished!

2. I have used rub-ons a total of one (1) time on a layout! It was so difficult for me...I haven't tried again!

3. I have never been diagnosed, but I am convinced I am OCD...because everything must be done a certain way!! I can't help it! I guess it could just be old age! Except....I'm not old!!!!!! :)

4. I have 2 sons, both are in the military and are state side right now. One of them will be moving to Germany in October.

My Very First TOOT!!

I have been scrapping for so long...since about the early 1990's. Until recently, I had never submitted any of my pages or other paper crafts to any type of contest, or anything else that would result in any type of publication.

Well, a couple months ago, I decided to submit a couple of my pages to a contest on one of the scrapbooking sites that I am a regular. I didn't win.....but, that began this saga!

I have since submitted to several contests, several print publications (no word yet!), as well as to one online magazine. I am a regular on this magazines forum, so I felt comfortable doing this. Well....I am (or rather my page) is in the June publication!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!

Applying to a DT call......

Have you ever done this? As it comes up to the final days, did you get these huge, "butterflies" all in your stomach and think....what have I done?

As you can probably figure out, I have applied for a DT spot on one of my favorite websites. I won't mention which one....because my "butterflies" will not allow it!

I am fairly new to this site and in the past few days, I have seen an influx of new people coming to the board and posting in the gallery. If they are going to stay, I say...wonderful! But, how many of them will just leave once the decisions are made?

Well, I am there to stay! There are so many wonderful, friendly people on this site that I have already met and I believe there are many more that I am destined to meet!

Here is a sampling of some of my babies that have bloomed this year!

I had a couple questions about how long it takes from seed to bloom, so I will address that here. Generally it takes two years from seed to bloom. However, I had 1 to bloom this year that I planted the seed in June, 2006...that is less than 1 year!

I am so hyped!!!

My other passion..besides scrapbooking!!

OK...you have caught me!! The past couple of days I have pretty much neglected my scrapbook stuff and been in my yard working. OK...so I don't really think it's work!!

I love flowers!! NO, I really love flowers, especially daylilies! I love daylilies soooo much that I hybridize them and grow them from seed!

Monday & Tuesday that is what I have been doing! I have planted over 100 daylily seeds of different crosses that I made last summer! I will soon be the proud parent of many more daylily babies!! Isn't that fantastic?

USA - ATC

ATC - Artist Trading Cards

Ever done any of these?

I haven't and I have actually signed up for a swap for these things!! I have feverishly been trying to learn exactly what I am supposed to do in order to get these things made.

It turns out...there are many different ways to create ATC's! So, there in lies the problem. Is there a right & wrong way or is anything goes, okay? If you know the answer to this question...please post a comment & let me know!!

Anyway, they are so cute!! I see a new obsession coming on! I want to collect a whole bunch of them.

As soon as I actually get one made, I will post it here for everyone to see my very first creation!

New Scrapbooking site!!

I have discovered a new scrapbooking site called Just Your Scrapbooking Headquarters. It is in the groundbreaking stages and only has plenty of room for growth.

The great lady who is the owner of the site already has a Memorial Day Contest posted and plans to have her Grand Opening of the site on October 13, 2007. She will soon be looking for Design Team Members as well!!
